How to setup your VSM Mail account for Outlook

 
  Please note your basic account settings:

Account Name:
your full e-mail address
Password: enter your mail password

Inbound Mail Server / POP3: mail.vsm.net (or your dedicated email server address - check with VSM support)
Outbound SMTP Server: mail.vsm.net (however it is preferable you obtain this from your ISP. Example: Comcast or Sprint.)
   
 
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2000. If you get a mail configuration wizard (this happens when Outlook has never been used on your computer) see the page about how to Reconfigure Mail Support. Go to steps 12 - 17 if you are just checking your settings.


  2. On the menu at the top click on "Tools". On the drop down menu that appears click on "Accounts...". The following dialog box will appear.


  3. Click on the "Add" button and select "Mail". The internet connection wizard will open
  4. Enter a descriptive name of the account such as "VSM Mail". Click "Next".


  5. Enter your full email address you will be setting the account up for. Click "Next".


  6. Enter your email server names as shown below:
  7. Your incoming Server is: mail.vsm.net . Your outbound mail server information will usually need to be obtained from your dial up provider, broadband provider, or your network administrator. Perhaps Sprint or Comcast. Click "Next".


  8. Enter your email logon name and password for this account.
  9. Account name will be your full email address. Enter your password for this account. If you do not know this, please call VSM at 239-642-0304. Be sure to check Remember password. Click "Next".


  10. Specify how you connect to the internet. A couple of other windows may appear, dependingon your choices. Click "Next".


  11. Once you specify your network connection you will see a dialog. Click "Finish".


  12. Double click on the account that you just created.


  13. A properties box will appear.


  14. Click on the Servers tab at the top.
  15. Click and place a checkmark where it says "My server requires athentication" Then click on "Settings..."


  16. Enter in outgoing server info. Contact your Dial-up or broadband provider for this information. Click "OK".


  17. That's it! You can now close all windows except you main Outlook window. Click the Send and Receive button.
